Tom Campbell is a self-made farmer and businessman. Through a lot of hard work and thanks to the grace of God, Tom’s lived the American dream. Now, he’s running for U.S. House of Representatives to make sure our children and grandchildren have an opportunity to achieve their own American Dream.
He knows the status quo is failing in Washington and it will take a conservative outsider to get the job done. In the House, Tom will fight for North Dakota values, for smaller, less wasteful government, and to finally get rid of Obamacare.
As one of seven children, Tom grew up on a small farm in North Dakota. His father was a World War II Veteran, mailman and a part-time grain farmer. His mother was a stay at home mom. He learned his work ethic from his father, and he learned his faith from his mother.
At the age of 16, Tom started his own custom combining business. He traveled over 1,000 miles to Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska for the summer to combine wheat for farmers who did not have their own combines, going door-to-door to find business. Two years later, he started his first potato farm. As a hard-working entrepreneur, Campbell honed his natural business sense and built his humble farm into a national company, providing thousands of jobs, stimulating the economy and feeding millions of people.
In 2013, after seeing unprecedented big government regulation and reckless spending by the Obama administration, Tom knew he couldn’t sit back and watch the country be changed by liberals and special interests into something unrecognizable. He was inspired to run for office to reform government and pass term limits to get rid of career politicians in both parties.
As a State Senator, Campbell has fought to uphold conservative principles and led the charge to reform North Dakota’s welfare system and require drug testing for welfare recipients, in order to eliminate waste and fraud in the state’s biggest entitlement.
